Top Illinois Golf Courses

Golf With Pride

Golfers in Illinois know they need to take advantage of any good weather during the season. Winters here don’t bode well for golf, so it’s a rush to complete as many rounds as you can. Visitors here can enjoy a selection of golf courses that span the range of quality and challenge.

While there are many courses convenient to the larger cities, don’t get too boxed in as there are exceptional courses throughout the rural areas. You’ll find your own new favorite course at one of these hidden gems.

Spread your time and effort across the state and be prepared to change scenery and difficulty with almost every hole. Illinois is a state with great pride in sports and golf is a highlight of competition here. Get your Sunday game on.

Big City Golf Scene

While the big city lights of Chicago are alluring, golfers know the diverse links here are the key to happiness. Public courses abound, including Jackson Park Golf Course, Indian Boundary Golf Course and two courses at Harborside International Golf Center. Don’t forget to take in the attractions and skyline of downtown Chicago.

On the outskirts of Chicago, you can even hit the links in Golf, Illinois, at Glen View Golf Club or Wilmette Golf Club. You must golf in Golf.

Golf In The Land Of Lincoln

Away from the big city, the Prairie State still shines for golfers in the Land of Lincoln. Peppered with 9-hole courses at every stop, this area boasts Lake of the Woods Golf Course in Mahomet and Pontiac Elks Country Club and Wolf Creek Golf Club in Pontiac. There are three 9-hole courses at Oak Brook Golf Club in Edwardsville and then the Belk Park Golf Course in Wood River.

Prairie Vista Golf Course and The Den at Fox Creek are highlights in Bloomington. Red Tail Run Golf Club in Decatur adds a nice touch over 18 holes.

Jacksonville heralds the Links at Jacksonville. Springfield boasts The Rail Golf Club and the aptly named Lincoln Greens Golf Course.

River Country Golf Links

Snaking its way through the river country is a trail of scenic golf courses. Peoria lays claim to Newman Golf Course, Madison Park Golf Course, Leo Donovan Golf Course and two courses of Howard D. Kellogg Golf Course.

A few out-of-the-way courses include the Nicklaus design at Fyre Lake Golf Club in Sherrard and Pinnacle Country Club in Milan. TPC Deere Run in Silvis is a must stop on this leg of your links trip.

Highlights of Rock Island are Highland Springs Golf Course and Arsenal Island Golf Course where you’ll feel like the Mississippi River is on top of you. The Westview Golf Course in Quincy, Oak Run Golf Course in Dahinda and Bunker Links Golf Course in Galesburg round out a run near the rivers.

Catch the current season of golf in Illinois and travel to as many of the local haunts as possible. Your trip will be a great experience.
