Top Wisconsin Golf Courses

May 10, 2018 By Charlie Parker Leave a Comment

Mixing Beauty And Golf

Wisconsin and its more than 500 golf courses with many designed by past PGA champions almost has too much golf to offer. Who are we kidding? There’s never “too much” golf, but Wisconsin offers enough scenic play to make your head spin whether you’re an occasional duffer or an aspiring pro golfer.

Wisconsin is such a golfing draw that the 2020 Ryder Cup will be played at Whistling Straits in Sheboygan along Lake Michigan. It may not be such a home-field advantage for the Americans as the Europeans will enjoy the Irish-influenced links design of this championship course. It plays along two miles of windswept lake shoreline and presents an open and rugged challenge.

For most golfers, the hundreds of other exceptional courses across the state will provide plenty of challenges when golfing in Wisconsin.  If you need golf netting or installation check out what we have to offer.

Play Like The Pros

The good news about Whistling Straits is that it’s like many other championship-level courses in the state as it provides public play. These courses offer incredible opportunities for golfers.

Thornberry Creek at Oneida is another course that has hosted professional tournament players. There are two courses at Blackwolf Run in Kohler.

Erin Hills Golf Course, Hartford; Brown Deer Park Golf Club, Milwaukee; Riverside Golf Course, Janesville; Naga-Waukee Golf Course, Pewakee; and Ironwood Golf Course, Sussex.

You can connect with the masters on three courses at Geneva National Resort, Lake Geneva. There is a course for Gary Player, Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino. Make this a destination golf trip.

Drive And Play Wisconsin

We’ve found it hard to categorize Wisconsin golf options because there are so many great courses across the state. You can jump onto a 9-hole golf course almost any day of the week without a tee time and you can reserve play for months in advance at the major courses. We’re going to just fire off with some great golfing options that you just have to pack up and get to as fast as you can.

Let’s kick off this road trip with a stop in Wisconsin Dells. You’ll find Coldwater Canyon Golf Course, Pinecrest Golf & Archery (9-hole course and then target practice), three 9-hole courses at Trappers Turn Golf Club and finish with Christmas Mountain Village Golf Course and Wild Rock Golf Course.

Many people think of Wisconsin as dairy land or cheeseheads and football, but golfing proves there’s more to Green Bay than pigskin. It’s as rich in golf as it is gridiron grinders.

Start with The Woods Golf Club in Green Bay and then Royal Scot Country Club in nearby New Franken. You’ll want to add Brown County Golf Course in Oneida, Northbrook Country Club in Luxemburg, and Royal St. Patrick’s Golf Course in Wrightstown. If time permits, there’s two great 9-hole courses in Greenleaf at Wander Springs Golf Course.

Next, point your GPS back south to Milwaukee where the big city meets nature at its best. Lake Park Golf Course starts you off in the city and then you can tackle Hansen Golf Course, Currie Park Golf Club, and Dretzka Park Golf Course. Add in nine holes at Doyne Park Golf Course and Lincoln Park Golf Course, and your city excursion will be well rounded.

If time permits, turn back west to Madison for The Bridges Golf Course and the two courses at Yahara Hills Golf Course. You won’t miss with nationally-rated University Ridge Golf Course in nearby Verona or Meadows of Six Mile Creek in Waunakee.

Don’t Miss This Golf Trip

Wisconsin golfers are dogged about their game and The Badger State delivers to all who want a unique and rewarding golf destination. Get there as soon as you can before this season ends.
